Pacaya volcano (Guatemala) activity update: seismic unrest

This morning's seismogram from Pacaya (PCG station, INSIVUMEH)
No new explosions have been observed and the only activity at the surface is degassing. INSIVUMEH mentions that tremor and volcanic quakes are visible, suggesting new eruptions could occur any time.

During the past 48 hours no more activity has been observed. The small explosions on 18 Dec have left a small crater. At the moment, the volcano is emitting a light bluish gas and steam plume only.

The CONRED reported that on the morning of 18 December three small explosions of gas-and-ash were detected at the volcano. This is the first eruptive activity recorded at Pacaya since late 2010.

No usual surface activity has been observed recently, but small volcanic earthquakes are occurring frequently.

At the surface, only steaming from fumaroles is observed, but there is elevated seismic activity under the volcano.
