A new lava flow has become active on the upper NE flank of the flanks of the Mackenney cone since around 9 Feb and is currently about 300 m long.
According to the latest special report by INSIVUMEH, the lava flow began to erupt from a fissure inside the large breach on the NE side left by the 2010 eruption, while strombolian activity continues to be present form the new cinder cone that has been gradually filling the summit crater over the past two years.
According to the report, the new lava flow is directed towards Cerro Chino.
