Low-level ash emissions continue from Paluweh. A recent Terra / Modis satellite image shows the ash plume at 6-8,000 ft altitude (2-2.4 km) drifting about 60 km to the west.

New ash emissions took place earlier today from the volcano. An ash plume was observed at 09:00 reaching 8,000 ft (2.4 km) altitude and extending 80 nm (about 140 km) to the NW. [more]

A MODIS - AQUA satellite image taken at 5:40 (UTC) shows a strong gas plume drifting 100 KM NW. The VSI maintains the Alert Level at 3 (on a scale of 1-4) but does not describe the current activity. Ash plumes were last seen on 22 October. [more]
