Ash-rich vulcanian-type explosions producing tall ash plumes, were often accompanied by loud bangs. Such powerful explosions seemed to occur in sets of 5-10 events, usually spaced 3-5 minutes, approximately every 6-10 hrs during our observation time from 4-8 June 09.  (Photo: Tom Pfeiffer)
