Magmatic gas escapes from the lava lake and creates spectacular fountains. The liquid lava is thrown many meters into the air, bursting into thousands of fragments. When liquid pieces are torn by the expanding escaping gas, lava is often torn into thin glassy threads, so-called Pele's hair. (Photo: Tom Pfeiffer)

Krakatau volcano photos
: Hundreds of photos from active Krakatau volcano in the Sunda Strait, Indonesia. Most of them taken during our various expeditions to this fascinating volcano.
Volcano Special Tours
: We organize tours to particularly active volcanoes and during ongoing eruptions for extended observation time from various viewpoints. These trips, exclusively for very small groups, are often announced only at short notice and require fast travel and flexibility. Each trip is accompanied by a volcanologist from our team. Examples include: Kilauea (Hawai'i), Colima (Mexico), Krakatau and many others.
: We have published several volcano calendars over the years: usually, we use photos taken by us or our participants during our recent volcano tours and expeditions. A perfect gift if you're a fan of volcanoes!
