We have arrived at Dallol volcano - a 60 m high hill only rising from the salt plain at 130 m below sea level. Dallol is a formation caused by volcanic activity deep under the thick crust of salt. No lava has ever made it to the surface, but the area is full of fumaroles, warm springs, bizarre salt formations in all colors, and always a surprise for those adventurous visitors that reach this desolated and remote place.
