Kilauea volcano (Hawai'i): lava flows descending on Pulama Pali June 2016
Our friend and filmmaker Michael Dalton (Volcanic Odysseys) is currently on Hawai'i and sent us some images of the new lava flows advancing SE fro Pu'u 'O'o, reaching Pulama Pali on 29 June 2016.
"Amazing day yesterday on the Pali, very spectacular and at times fast moving flows. We caught some incredible surges. The flow with the burning trees had to be moving close to 1ft a second during the fast surges that last 10 minutes or so."
Kelut volcano photos A new lava dome grew inside the crater lake during the effusive eruption in late 2007, replacing most of the lake. Watch the birth of a new mountain!
Kamchatka photos A growing list of photo galleries taking during our expeditions in this fantastic part of the world, full of volcanoes, unspoiled nature and colors.
Divergent plate boundaries in oceans Two ocean plates move apart from each other. Hot upwelling mantle material forms magmas that continuously produce new oceanic crust. An ocean widens.
