Lava flow field of Piton de la Fournaise's eruption as on 28 Sep 2015(OVPF)
The eruption continues with little changes overall. The lava flow field gradually expands (and thickens) towards the southeast from the vents, with the most distant flow fronts now being around 2600-2700 m away.
Tremor at Piton de la Fournaise (OVPF)
A slight increase in tremor has been noted over the past week, but volcanologists believe that it is probably due to rainwater infiltration. An inversion of the deformation trend has been detected as well: now, the upper part of the central Dolomieu cone seems to have started to deflate, which could indicate a beginning exhaustion of magma supply.

The eruption continues into its second month,- for Piton de La Fournaise's standards this is an unusually long-lived one. Accompanied by stable tremor, effusive activity remains strong and feeds a growing lava flow field that slowly expands towards the east in direction of the Grandes Pentes. Read all

The eruption continues at weak intensity. As of yesterday, only one vent, a cone about 20 m high, remained active producing pulsating fountain-like strombolian explosions of bursting lava bubbles that reach 15-20 m height. Read all
