The alert level of the volcano was lowered today as no more eruptive activity occurred since the last phase of the latest eruption ended more than two weeks ago.
Most trails inside the Enclos are now again open for public, with the exception of the wide area of and around the still hot pahoehoe lava flow field emplaced at the western foot of Dolomieu crater during the recent eruption.
(A significant, potential lethal hazard is breaking through the fragile crust of the shelly pahoehoe lava, potentially falling into still very hot hollow spaces underneath).
