Poas volcano (Costa Rica): Increased SO 2 emissions but volcano remains calm

OVSICORI-UNA report that there is currently a stable fluctuation pattern of seismic activity at the volcano. There is continued inflation but not a significant amount. Carbon dioxide/Sulfur dioxide (CO 2 / SO 2) ratios remains stable with the exception of a peak on February 9. There is almost no Hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S). Sulfur dioxide emissions significantly increased over the weekend (February 8-9). The crater lake level has also decreased.

OVSICORI-UNA reported that during 16-26 September sulfur dioxide emissions from Poás drifted W and NE, causing a sulfur odor in Alajuela, Heredia, San José, and Cartago.
