Crater glow from Popo this morning
During 24-25 Dec, the number of emission (72) has risen again to about 3 per hour, and some of them were moderate in size and produced small ash plumes.

Filament on overnight crater 22 to 23 December
In the last 24 hours during 22-23 Dec, the number of emissions was 45, about 2 per hour, with several ones being comparably larger than during most of the past weeks. Ash emissions occurred yesterday at 17:17 h reaching a height of about 1 km above the crater of the volcano and drifting towards the northeast, another one at 17:42 h with a height of 2.5 km, and a third one at 17:49 h.

Emission at 08:43 h this morning
77 exhalations of low to moderate intensity occurred during 20-21 Dec, accompanied by emissions of steam and gas, and in some cases small amounts of ash. The most important was occurred today at 08:43 h and produced a column of gas and ash that rose 2 km above the crater and was also alerted of by VAAC Washington.

After increasing to 5 weak steam and sometimes ash emissions per hour during 17-18 Dec, the rate has dropped to about 3 per hour during 18-19 Dec. Glow remains visible at night.

Popo's steam and gas column this morning
The number of weak emissions has further increased; there were 121 events, i.e. about 4 per hour. Most produced only puffs of steam and gas, and in some cases very small amounts of ash. Other monitoring parameters remain unchanged. During the night glow was observed in the crater. In the morning, a steam and gas plume was seen rising about 800 meters above the crater and drifting to the southeast.
Sun, 16 Dec 2012, 11:05Weak emissions remain frequent (almost 3/hour) and low level volcanic tremor and 2 local earthquakes occurred during 15-16 Dec.
Fri, 14 Dec 2012, 11:05
Activity has picked up a bit again. During 13-14 Dec, gas and steam emissions have increased to more than 2 per hour again. The larger ones were at 11:13 h, 11:19 h yesterday and today at 09:23 h and 09:31 local time. These produced plumes rising more than 1 km and drifting NE.

Steaming Popocatépetl on 13 Dec 2012
Activity has decreased to only 20 weak emissions with no or little ash content. A moderate steam plume is rising from the volcano.
Wed, 12 Dec 2012, 11:05
Activity has been decreasing. Only 34 weak emissions were reported during the 24 hours 10-11 Dec.

CENAPRED reported that during 12-18 December seismicity at Popocatépetl indicated continuing gas-and-steam emissions that contained minor amounts of ash. Variable incandescence from the crater was observed most nights. During 13-15 December gas-and-steam plumes rose at most 1 km above the crater and drifted NE, E, and SE.

Tue, 11 Dec 2012, 11:05During 9-10 Dec, CENPARED recorded 64 emissions of low intensity, omly some of which produced small ash plumes.
Sun, 9 Dec 2012, 07:44
In the last 24 h Popocatepetl volcano had 66 low-intensity exhalations accompanied by emissions of steam, gas and sometimes minor amounts of ash. On 8 Dec morning, there have been 3 exhalations with ash rising about 500 m above the crater.

Wed, 5 Dec 2012, 06:00CENAPRED reported that during 4-11 December seismicity at Popocatépetl indicated continuing gas-and-steam emissions that contained minor amounts of ash. Incandescence from the crater was observed at night. Cloud cover often prevented observations; gas-and-steam plumes were observed drifting NE, E, and SSE during periods of clearer weather.

Activity has not changed much during the past weeks, and remains at relatively low levels. During 3-4 Dec, 14 weak emissions were recorded, some of which contained a bit of ash. Glow remains visible from the crater at night, suggesting that magma still rises at slow rate within the conduit.
Thu, 22 Nov 2012, 11:05About 1 emission per hour was counted during 20-21 Nov and occasionally, incandescent ejecta could be seen thrown to the crater area during the more energetic explosions.
Tue, 20 Nov 2012, 11:05
The volcano has calmed down a bit; during 18-19 Nov, only 1 weak explosion per hour has been observed.
Mon, 19 Nov 2012, 10:29Activity has remained stable at relatively low levels. About 2 emissions per hour have been occurring, few of which contained small amounts of ash. Glow remains visible at night.
Fri, 16 Nov 2012, 11:05
The volcano has calmed down considerably to only about 2 emissions of steam and ash per hour (after having reached numbers of 150-200 per day during recent days). The decline might be in connection with the M6.0 Tlalchapa earthquake yesterday morning or simply be part of the fluctuations in activity the volcano has been undergoing over the past months.

Emission at 7:57 am on November 11
During 10-11 Nov, there were 97 emissions of low and moderate intensity, sometimes producing small amounts of ash. Some of the most important occurred at 12:26 on 10 Nova and tat 06:18 h, at 07:56 h (see picture) and 11:05 h local time on 11 Nov. Explosions at 02:22 and 04:19 on 11 Nov ejected incandescent fragments near the crater. Additionally at 04:03 on 11 Nov, there was a low-magnitude volcano-tectonic quake.
