Popocatepetl volcano (Mexico): very strong explosion yesterday night
As a result, CENAPRED raised the alert status a notch to Yellow Phase 3 and warms people to approach the volcano. An above-average vulcanian-type explosions occurred yesterday evening at 19:48 local time (s. image / video), sending an ash column to 3 km height above the crater and a heavy rain of incandescent fragments to up to 2 km distance, covering much of the immense summit cone.
We will offer a Volcano Special tour to Popo from 15-20 April (during the best moonlight); if you're interested in joining a small team of VolcanoDiscovery, there are still 2 or 3 spaces available.
