An elevated seismic activity at the volcano has been registered during 8-19 July dominated by a continuous tremor and volcano-tectonic earthquakes.

The activity peaked with an explosion at 17:19 local time on 27 July. The visibility of an ash plume was very limited due to dense clouds, but the height of the plume was reported to rise to estimated 4,3-4,8 km altitude.
A heat anomaly (2 MW) was detected within the crater area of the volcano. Instruments recorded a slight inflation.
The local PVMBG observatory raised the alert level to "orange".
People are advised to avoid the crater within the 3 km radius due to ballistic impacts of volcanic bombs.

Raung volcano (Eastern Java) - Smithsonian / USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity Report for 27 July-2 August 2022 (New Activity / Unrest)
According to PVMBG an eruption at Raung at 1719 on 27 July produced a gray ash plume that rose 1-1.5 km above the summit and drifted W and NW. On 28 July a thermal anomaly in the crater was identified in satellite images and data from the GPS network indicated inflation, likely from an intrusion of magma. Seismicity on 29 July was dominated by continuous tremor. ... Read all
