Tremor amplitude of Raung as of 15 July (BNPB)
The eruption of the volcano continues with intense ash emissions and the effusion of lava from vents inside the caldera and shows no signs of weakening.
Depending on the wind direction, the ash plume, approx. at 5 km altitude, drifted several hundred kilometers and has been causing repeated closures of nearby regional airports, most notably Surabaya and Bali. Hundreds of travelers were temporarily stranded as their flights were canceled.
