Reventador volcano (Ecuador): activity remains high, frequent small to moderate explosions

Mild eruptive activity continues at the volcano where a flat lava dome is growing in the summit crater. A weak thermal anomaly is visible on satellite data and frequent, mostly small explosions produce mild ash emissions from time to time.

Ecuador's Geophysical Institute characterizes the activity of Reventador volcano, currently the most active in the country, as "high". The latest report mentions 40 explosions during a 24 hour interval and a steam-ash plume that rose up to 700 m.
