Active lava ooze outs continue to build the island where tongues of lava flows, spreading into various directions, enter the ocean and form gas-steam emissions at interaction with lava and water. Steam-laden plumes reach 1-2 km above the island.
The island is currently (19 September) measured by 211 meters arranged in the north-south direction and by 218 meters in the east-west direction with a total surface area of about 8.6 acres and estimated height of 15 meters above sea level.
Mariners are advised to stay 4 km away from the volcano.
