Location of M 4.0 quake, 9 km east of Pāhala (image: HVO)

The Halemaʻumaʻu lava lake within Kilauea caldera (image: Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park)
The quake happened 9 km east Pāhala (Island of Hawaiʻi) at 32 km depth.
The earthquake had no apparent impact on either Mauna Loa or Kīlauea volcanoes.
The effusive eruption at the volcano continues.
The lava flow from the western vent continues to supply to the Halemaʻumaʻu lava lake. The surface activity, outside the lava lake, occurs from breakouts along the margins of the crater on the northeast, east, south, and west sides.
