Degassing activity from Krakatau as visible from satellite on 8 March (image: Sentinel-2)
A couple of vulcanian-sized explosions appeared at the volcano within a seven hours time-span yesterday.
Dense white-to-grey, grey ash plumes rose about 457-657 meters above the crater and drifted to the southwest of the volcano.
The seismic network reported seismic signals with maximum amplitudes of 38 and 46 mm and a duration of 53 and 41 seconds.

Our volcano expedition scheduled to visit Krakatau and Karangetang from 2-14 April will bring direct observations.

The Darwin VAAC reported that during 1240-1300 on 10 March continuous ash emissions from Anak Krakatau rose 1.5-1.8 km (5,000-6,000 ft) a.s.l. and drifted W and NW based on satellite images, weather models, and PVMBG webcams.
