The activity at the volcano has been increasing during the past week characterized by increased seismic activity.

According to OVPF the seismicity remaines elevated when instruments detected 1,300 volcano-tectonic earthquakes during 09:30 pm-12:04 pm local time yesterday. Earthquakes were located mainly beneath the summit area and the eastern flank at depths between 1.6 and 5.2 km.
This suggests that a new batch of magma is rising inside the volcano's conduits and pushes its way up to the surface. An eruption is expected in the next few hours.
Instruments recorded rapid ground deformation.
Eruptive fissures open at low altitude as the seismicity is increasing.
