Semeru volcano (image: PVMBG) PVMBG recorded today an explosion that generated an ash plume, which reached approx. 14,000 ft (4,260 m) altitude. Incandescent material is being ejected to an approx. height of 10-50 meters above the Seloko Jongring crater and descended 700 m, reaching a maximum distance of 950 m from the crater. Gas plumes from Semeru volcano today (image: PVMBG) PVMBG reported that during 23-29 March white plumes rose 328 ft (100 m) above the summit. Lava flows on the south flank on Semeru volcano (image: Sentinel 2) PVMBG reported that on 3 March a pyroclastic flow was generated from collapsing material at the end of a 750-m-long lava flow on the S flank. The pyroclastic flow lasted nine minutes based on seismic data which traveled 2.3 km down the south flank. This was reported at 17:33 local time. Read more...During 3-8 March a black-grey ash plumes rose 656 ft (200 m) above the summit crater that interspersed with 100 m high white gas plumes. Incandescent material is being ejected to an approximate height of 10 to 50 meters above the crater. Lava flows traveled down the slopes of Semeru volcano (image: Twitter) PVMBG reported that during February and 1-2 March an explosions at the volcano generated a grey ash plumes, which rose approx. 656 ft-1,640 ft (200 m-500 m) above the summit crater. Read more...On 26 February incandescent material was ejected to an approximate height of 10 to 50 meters above the Jonggring-Seloko Crater. On 2 March lava flows on the south flank traveled 1,640 ft-3,280 ft (500 m-1,000 m) downslope the Kembar, Bang and Kobokan drainages.
