Shishaldin volcano (Aleutian Islands, Alaska) activity update: the aviation color code raised to Orange

The Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) reported that a high-resolution satellite image shows lava and what appears to be a new cone within the volcano summit crater. Weak seismic tremor has been detected.

No significant ash or lava signatures are apparent outside the summit crater at this time. Eruptive activity could increase with little or no warning resulting in lava flows outside of the crater, lahars, and low-level ash clouds. During the current eruptive cycle, larger ash clouds have also been produced.
The Aviation Color Code raised to Orange and the Alert Level to Watch.
