Small magnitude 3.1 quake hits 12 miles southwest of Karluk, Alaska, United States early morning

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported a magnitude 3.1 quake in the United States near Karluk, Kodiak Island County, Alaska, only 8 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Saturday 26 December 2020 at 2:13 am local time at a very shallow depth of mile. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.1 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Karluk (pop. 37) located 12 miles from the epicenter. In Larsen Bay (pop. 88, 28 miles away), and Akhiok (pop. 72, 44 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
