Moderate earthquake of magnitude 4.5 just reported 77 km northwest of Gorontalo, Indonesia

4.5 quake 24 May 11:27 pm (GMT +8)

Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported a magnitude 4.5 quake in Indonesia near Gorontalo, only 11 minutes ago. The earthquake hit late at night on Monday 24 May 2021 at 11:27 pm local time at a shallow depth of 27 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.5 earthquake as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Gorontalo (pop. 144,200) located 77 km from the epicenter.
