The volcano's activity remains more or less unchanged. It continues to produce a weak steam and thin ash plume that rises 500-1500 m above the summit crater.
INGEMMET reports continuing seismic activity that suggests a slow ongoing magmatic intrusion at depth (5-20 km under the volcano, the location of 60 volcano-tectonic quakes during 18-24 Aug).

Since mid June, an increase in internal activity has been recorded at the volcano. The Geophysical Institute of Peru reported a swarm of shallow earthquakes in an area at 6 km depth approx. 7 km north of the volcano's summit. In addition, increased degassing has been observed.
