Sakurajima volcano (Kyushu, Japan): sporadic ash emissions

Gas, steam and ash content from Sakurajima volcano yesterday (image: JMA)
The activity of the volcano is characterized by occasional ash emissions.
The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA)and Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Tokyo (VAAC) detected emissions of gas and steam plumes with ash content yesterday. The plumes rose 3,280 ft (1,000 m) above the summit crater and were dispersed towards the east direction.
