Sakurajima volcano (Kyushu, Japan) activity update: frequent and relatively strong explosions

Sakurajima continues to be at elevated activity levels. Yesterday marked a record of 6 explosions (GMT time frame), the largest of which was at 21:27 GMT (or 06:27 Japan time today) and sent ash to 12,000 ft (3.7 km). 2 moderate explosions have occurred today so far.
