Sakurajima volcano (Kyushu, Japan) activity update: 0-5 vulcanian explosions per day

The volcano had no less than 5 explosions of moderate size (ash cloud heights up to 10,000 ft / 3 km) during 14 Oct, after a 3 days period with (probably) just one eruption.

Sakurajima remains relatively active with 4 explosions of moderate size counted on 6 Oct (GMT time). Ash plumes rose to 2.7-3 km altitude 9-10,000 ft).

4 explosions occurred during the past 24 hours, the largest at this morning 06:24 Japan time, sending ash to 3.4 km altitude (11,000 ft) according to Tokyo VAAC.

Sakurajima continues to be at elevated activity levels. Yesterday marked a record of 6 explosions (GMT time frame), the largest of which was at 21:27 GMT (or 06:27 Japan time today) and sent ash to 12,000 ft (3.7 km). 2 moderate explosions have occurred today so far.

After taking some breath for about 24 hours, Sakurajima erupted with 4 relatively strong explosions during the past 24 hours alone. Two of them (this morning at 09:39 and at 18:57 local time) produced ash rising to 11,000 ft or 3.4 km altitude, VAAC Tokyo reports.
