Aira volcano (Kyushu, Japan) - Smithsonian / USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity Report for 27 September-3 October 2017 (Continuing Activity)

JMA reported that at 0055 on 29 September an explosive event at Showa Crater (at Aira Caldera's Sakurajima volcano) produced a plume that rose 2.8 km above the crater rim, and ejected material as far as 1,300 m.
