Sakurajima volcano (Kyushu, Japan) activity update: moderate vulcanian explosions (1-3 per day), ash plumes to 3.4 km height

During 1-4 June 7 explosions from Sakura-jima's Showa Crater ejected ballistics 800-1,300 m from the crater. During 30 May-5 June explosions produced plumes that rose to altitudes of 1.2-3 km (4,000-10,000 ft) a.s.l. and drifted SW, W, and NW. Pilots observed ash plumes during 3-4 June that rose to altitudes of 2.7-3.4 (9,000-11,000 ft) a.s.l. and drifted W.
