The volcano has been very active during the past days. Yesterday, 3 explosions occurred that produced ash plumes that rose up to 12,000 ft (4 km) altitude. At night, constant glow is visible from the summit crater Minamidake. Seismic and degassing activity are also elevated, suggesting that magma continues to rise inside the volcano.
