Location of recent earthquakes at San Miguel (MARN)
Seismic and degassing activity at the volcano decreased during the past days at bit, but remain elevated. The gas plume reached 100 m above the crater and drifted S-SW yesterday.
MARN continues to record frequent micro-earthquakes concentrated below the northern flank, indicating rock fracturing by internal (possibly magma-related) pressure.

Tremor intensity at San Miguel volcano (MARN)
The situation has remained essentially unchanged and the volcano has (not yet) erupted again. Seismic activity remains high and continues to increase overall, while surface activity consists of pulsating gas emissions reaching a height of 200 m. ... read all

Tremor intensity at San Miguel volcano (MARN)
Warning signs of a possible new eruption of the volcano in the near future are becoming increasingly alarming. Accompanied by an ongoing earthquake swarm, tremor (as an indicator of internal pressure) continues to climb. Pulsating gas emissions reaching 50-400 m height above the crater have been seen recently. ... read all

Sequence of the small explosion at San Miguel yesterday (MARN)
A small ash explosion occurred yesterday afternoon at the volcano, at 16:44 (local time). It only lasted about 10 minutes and produced a small ash plume rising approx. 500 m. It is the first eruptive activity since the larger explosion on 29 Dec past year, and is likely only a precursor of more violent activity to come. read all

Tremor amplitude at San Miguel volcano over the past weeks (MARN)
The volcano has not erupted again, but shows increased signs of unrest. Since late January, the volcano's seismic activity has been rising significantly. MARN detected a swarms of earthquakes at very shallow 1 km depth beneath the SW flank, while a smaller number of quakes occured at approx. 6 km depth beneath the summit of the volcano. read all

Current seismic signal at San Miguel volcano (VSM station, MARN)
No significant changes have occurred, but the authorities warn that another eruption in the near to medium-term future cannot be ruled out. Seismic activity with the presence of volcanic tremor remains at elevated, fluctuating levels. A degassing, SO2-rich plume rises about 150 meters above the crater. ... read all
