Pulsating steam emissions from Chaparrastique on 20 Dec 2014 (MARN)
Pulsating steam emissions from Chaparrastique on 20 Dec 2014 (MARN)
Tremor amplitude at Chaparrastique volcano over the past months (MARN)
The volcano remains restless with seismic activity above background and shows occasional pulsating gas and steam emissions. Overall, activity has been slowly decreasing over the past months.
Tomorrow Monday marks the anniversary of the strong explosion on 29 Dec 2013, when a large ash plume caused ash falls in Chinameca, New Guadalupe, Santiago de María, San Jorge and other areas near the volcano.

Tremor amplitude at Chaparrastique volcano over the past weeks (MARN)
Seismic activity, in particular the level of internal vibration (tremor), has increased again at the volcano. This follows a month of lower values detected. ... read all

Ash emissions from Chaparrastique volcano on 23 July (MARN)
New ash emissions occurred on 23 July, similar to the previous such episode on 13 July. Small plumes rose a few 100 m above the crater. Seismic tremor remains high and authorities keep a close watch on the volcano. ... read all

Tremor amplitude at Chaparrastique volcano over the past weeks (MARN)
The volcano continues to produce important gas emissions as well as occasional small ash explosions. Tremor remains at very high levels (20 times above normal), caused by internal fluid movements. The likelihood of new eruptive activity in the near to medium future remains elevated. ... read all

Ash emissions from Chaparrastique volcano yesterday (MARN)
Chaparrastique volcano has started to produce small explosions and significant ash emissions. An increase of the ongoing eruption could occur any time and is expected to occur either from the summit vent or from the northern flank (because earthquakes have been clustered under this part of the volcano during the past months). read all

Tremor amplitude at Chaparrastique volcano over the past weeks (MARN)
Ash emissions have occurred increasingly at Chaparrastique volcano and tremor has risen again sharply to its highest level ever. Volcanologists from MARN in El Salvador are on high alert of a possible impending stronger eruption. ... read all
