Heat signal from Sangeang Api volcano during the past year (MIROVA)
PVMBG reported that observers at the Sangeang Api observation post in Desa Sangeang Darat, Bima, West Nusa Tenggara, reported that during 1 July-30 September diffuse white plumes rose up to 250 m above the crater rim. During 1 October-1 November white-to-gray plumes rose as high as 350 m. ...more [read all]

Activity (effusive and/or explosive) continues at the volcano. On 1 August, a volcanic ash plume was detected on satellite imagery extending 25 km to the WNW, at estimated 8,000 ft (2.4 km) altitude (VAAC Darwin).

The volcano remains active, and continues to feed the new lava flow traveling inside a ravine on the SE flank. This is confirmed by satellite imagery from 20 July, where the front of the lava flow seems to be already close to the coast.

Activity continues at least intermittently. An ash plume at estimated 9,000 ft (2.7 km) altitude was observed Friday extending almost 100 km to the NW (VAAC Darwin).
