Santiaguito volcano (Guatemala): explosions continue with growing lava dome

Surveillance cameras observed weak explosions that generated a dark ash plume which reached approx. 11,483 ft (3,500 m) above the summit and drifted SW.
Material is ejected above the crater and caused weak avalanches of material on the south, southeast and southwest flanks of the Caliente dome.

INSIVUMEH reported that explosions at Santa María's Santiaguito lava-dome complex generated ash plumes that rose 800-900 m above the crater and drifted as far as 1.2 km NW, W, and SW.
