Santiaguito volcano (Guatemala): incandescent avalanches

INSIVUMEH reported that incandescence avalanches continue to be observed in the Caliente dome and caused avalanches of material in S-SE-SW direction that reached the base of the dome.
A weak to moderate explosions are generated which reached approx. 10,826-11,811 ft (3,300-3,600 m) altitude and extending about 10-12 km of the volcano.
Seismicity remained elevated including periods of high amplitude tremor.
A weak to moderate lahars (mud flows) occurred as the heavy rainfalls remobilised the fresh ash deposits in the upper part of the dome.
