Santiaguito this morning with ash from block avalanches on the eastern flank
Santiaguito this morning with ash from block avalanches on the eastern flank
Activity has been elevated. The effusion rate of the Caliente dome is high enough to produce constant block avalanches from the eastern rim. Explosive activity has been weak with ash plumes reaching 500-700 m height drifting into southerly directions.

Santiaguito lava dome yesterday morning (INSIVUMEH webcam)
Sunday, Nov 03, 2013
In recent days the eruptive activity has increased, in particular towards more effusive activity. The Caliente lava dome produced a higher rate of lava extrusion at the edges of the dome and explosions at a rate of approx. one per hour with ash plumes of up to 500 m drifting in westerly directions. ... Santiaguito's Caliente lava dome yesterday morning
Tuesday, Oct 22, 2013
An increase in effusive activity was reported. The observatory mentioned "abundant activity" from two lava flows on the western and southern flank of the Caliente dome, which generate block avalanches. Explosive activity has remained at normal, rather weak levels with infrequent ash explosions ejecting plumes of up to about 700 m height. [more]

The volcano is in its most typical state of activity. After a few days with less (recorded) activity, the volcano's lava dome has again produced a number of small to moderate explosions with ash plumes rising up to about 700 m yesterday. Glow was observed at the eastern rim of the Caliente dome, which suggests that slow lava extrusion has resumed there as well. [more]
Tuesday, Oct 15, 2013
The lava dome has been very calm recently. No explosions or movements at the lava flows on the dome's flanks were observed during the past day, INSIVUMEH reported. [more]
Thursday, Oct 10, 2013
No significant changes occurred over the past days. INSIVUMEH's volcano observatory reported two explosions this morning with ash plumes of about 600 m height, causing light ash fall in La Florida and parts of Monte Claro. No activity was observed at the lava flows on the dome's flanks. [more]
