Santiaguito volcano (Guatemala): new explosions from Caliente lava dome

Ash plume from an explosion at Santiaguito on 3 Nov 2014Explosive activity has returned to the Caliente lava dome after several months of absence. At least 3 explosions per day were seen during the recent days.
Most of them were small, but some produced plumes reaching several hundred meters in height. At the same time, the viscous lava flow to the southeast remains active and continues to advance slowly.
