Santiaguito volcano (Guatemala): elevated activity continues

Incandescence from Caliente dome of Santiaguito volcano with Santa Maria in the background from satellite (image: Sentinel 2)INSIVUMEH recorded a white fumarole in Caliente dome that rose 10,500 ft (3,200 m) above the summit.
The seismic station detected weak explosions that generated a dark ash plume which reached approx. 10,800 ft (3,300 m) above the summit and drifted W.
Material is ejected above the crater and caused weak avalanches of material on the south, east and southeast flanks of the Caliente dome.

INSIVUMEH report 1 to 3, weak and moderate explosions per hour that eject ash columns to an approximate height of 3200 meters (10499 feet) above sea level, which disperse to the southwest at a distance of approximately 1 kilometer. Weak avalanches on the southeast flanks of the Caliente dome. Ashfall accumulating on the edifice perimeter. [more]
