Semeru volcano (Eastern Java) - Smithsonian / USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity Report for 27 July-2 August 2022 (Continuing Activity)
PVMBG reported that the eruption at Semeru continued during 27 July-2 August. Eruptive events recorded at 0637 on 27 July, 0926 on 29 July, 0825 on 31 July, 0757 on 1 August, 0555 on 2 August, and 0810 on 3 August produced ash plumes that rose 500-700 m above the summit and drifted SW. The Alert Level remained at 3 (on a scale of 1-4).

The public was warned to stay at least 5 km away from the summit, and 500 m from Kobokan drainages within 17 km of the summit, along with other drainages originating on Semeru, including the Bang, Kembar, and Sat, due to lahar, avalanche, and pyroclastic flow hazards.
