Lava flows from Semeru volcano on the SE flank remain active (image: Sentinel 2) On 16 May Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Darwin recorded an explosion that generated a dark ash plume, which reached approx. 46,000 ft (14,000 m) altitude.
