Low-level eruptive activity continues from the Mount Cerberus crater (image: Sentinel 2)
Plumes of ash continue to rise to an altitude of 10,000 ft (3,048 m), but the intensity over the past four weeks is higher-than-usual as the ash columns are being sent to an altitude of 13,000 ft (4,000 m). A volcanic ash is spreading about 300 km of the volcano.
Interaction of groundwater and magma produces fine-grained ash as it rises within the volcano edifice. In addition, satellite-based measurements of sulfur dioxide (SO2) concentrations in the atmosphere show confirm a new batch of magma inside the volcano's conduits.
The alert level for the volcano remains at "orange".
The current episode of unrest began in February of 2021 and has been variable but mostly low-level.

AVO reported that eruptive activity at Semisopochnoi's North Cerberus crater continued during 31 August-7 September. Multiple daily explosions were detected by seismic and infrasound networks.
