Semisopochnoi volcano (Aleutian Islands): sporadic ash eruptions continue

Explosion at Semisopochnoi volcano yesterday (image: AVO)

The Alaska Volcano Observatory's (AVO) surveillance cameras observed small-to-moderate explosions yesterday from the summit vent.
Ash emissions reached 5,000 ft (1,500 m) altitude and extended about 100 km to the northeast of the volcano.
The seismic activity remains elevated.
