Weak seismic activity and occasional small explosions continue, and a thermal anomaly is visible at the volcano indicating continuing slow lava dome growth (calculated to 2.6 m3/second). The KVERT webcam showed an ash eruption on 20 Sep.

A new explosion occurred at Sheveluch volcano on 23:19 GMT on 17 Sep. Based on pilot observations, VAAC Anchorage reports an ash plume to flight level 270, i.e. 27,000 ft altitude (about 8 km). The ash plume is moving rapidly to the SE. [more]
