Shiveluch volcano (Kamchatka): explosion and partial dome collapse trigger pyroclastic flow

Ash plume from a pyroclastic flow on Shiveluch volcano on 3 Oct 2015
The lava dome continues to grow inside the open summit crater. An explosion and partial collapse occurred in the evening of 3 Oct, producing a pyroclastic flow and associated ash plume that rose to 6.5 km altitude.

The volcano's lava dome continues to be active. At night, constant incandescence can be seen and frequent small avalanches occur. A dilute ash plume can be seen rising from it.

Lava extrusion into the volcano's lava dome continues at moderate intensity. Small incandescent avalanches are sometimes visible on night-time webcam images. Steaming and weak to moderate ash emissions accompany this activity.

Slow growth of the lava dome continues although the volcano has been comparably calm recently. Only smaller collapses and associated pyroclastic flows and ash plumes (such as one on 19 Aug) occurred.

A moderately sized eruption occurred Thursday evening and produced an ash plume that rose to approx. 18,000 ft (5.4 km) altitude. Minor, near continuous ash venting has been intermittently visible on webcam imagery since.
