Highly explosive. Construction of lava domes and large pyroclastic flows caused by dome collapse. One of Kamchatka's largest and most active volcanoes.

Shiveluch volcano (Kamchatka) activity update: Strong explosion- ash to 10km (33,000ft)

KVERT has raised the Aviation Colour Code to Red this morning after a new strong explosion. This is typical of Sheveluch, particularly during the current episode of significant dome growth.
