Sinabung volcano (Northern Sumatra, Indonesia): volcano remains very active, several explosions observed

The volcano has been very active during the past days. Several moderately large explosions occurred that produced ash plumes that rose to altitudes of 11-14,000 ft (3-4 km) altitude. The local volcano observatory reported 138 avalanches from the actively growing lava dome, some of which became turbulent, fast-moving glowing avalanches (pyroclastic flows) that traveled to the base of the cone.

As the lava dome continues to increase in size by the day, more explosions and pyroclastic flows can be expected in the near future. The latter are the potentially most dangerous hazard, as they are capable to travel many kilometers if big enough and destroy everything in their path.
In tandem with the currently high activity, seismicity levels also remain elevated.
