Stromboli volcano (Eolian Islands, Italy): short phase of intense lava spattering during Sunday night - Monday morning

The volcano experienced a brief phase of elevated activity in the form of near-continuous lava spattering from the northern vents that had started Sunday (30 May) evening around 20:50 local time and lasted approx. 12 hours.

By 11 am on Monday morning, activity had returned to its normal state, with intermittent spattering and small to moderate strombolian explosions from several vents.
