The activity of the volcano continues at moderate to high levels with little changes during the past weeks.
Frequent strombolian explosions occur from multiple vents in the crater area. On 3 Feb 2020 morning, a short-lived lava overflow from the vents in the northeastern crater area produced a small lava flow on the upper Sicara del Fuoco.
For now and the foreseeable future, the summit area of the volcano remains closed for visitors.
