Suwanosejima volcano (Ryukyu Islands, Japan): strong explosion today

The eruption started at Suwanosejima volcano at about 15:50 local time. A dense dark ash plume rose to estimated 6,000 ft (1,828 m) altitude and drifted W. Ejected blocks reached distance approx. 400 m away from the crater.
The warning bulletin states that ballistic impacts of volcanic bombs and pyroclastic flows could affect an area of about 2 km distance from the main crater.
