Small explosion at Suwanose-jima volcano this morning
Activity has declined a lot over the past weeks. Sporadic smaller explosion still occur from time to time, such as this morning at around 11am (local time):

An explosion occurred at the volcano yesterday, VAAC Tokyo reported. The height of the ash plume was unknown.

Explosions have become less frequent, but still occur from time to time. This morning, an ash plume from an eruption could be seen on the webcam. VAAC Tokyo estimated the height of the ash plume that drifted SSE at approx 3 km altitude.

The remote volcano south of Kyushu remains very active, although seems to have calmed down a bit. The following video of the past 24 hours at the volcano shows phases near-continuous steam and ash emissions as well as some smaller discrete explosions. Ash plumes were reported to reach up to 4,000 ft (1.2 km) altitude. ...

The volcano continues to be in eruption. It regularly has (probably strombolian-type) explosions that produce small to medium-sized ash plumes up to 1-2 km in height.
